Pinot Noir
Wine
Mewstone Pinot Noir is sourced from two blocks of the Mewstone vineyard, which overlooks the D'Entrecasteau Channel in Flowerpot, southern Tasmania.
Each block is picked individually and fermented in the winery's old milk vats. A portion of the fruit is included as whole bunches to add structure. After around 20 days on skins, the wine is pressed to new and seasoned oak.
During maturation, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation. The barrels are then racked and sulphured prior to bottling. Only limited quantities are produced.
Crimson red, Mewstone Pinot Noir is poised and complex with red and blue fruit notes complemented by structured tannins. Cellaring potential is seven years.
